LinkedIn and SlideShare - love at first slide

  • LinkedIn describes its acquisition of SlideShare through a presentation.
LinkedIn, the professional networking website, announced the acquisition of SlideShare just a few hours back. The San-Francisco based SlideShare, which has an office in Delhi as well, allows users to upload and share presentations, documents and professional videos online.
 
Talking about the future of SlideShare, company CEO Rashmi Sinha stated on the company blog that SlideShare will continue to remain the same and users will still be able to upload, share, and find presentations. However, over time SlideShare expects to announce some integration with LinkedIn.
 
LinkedIn CEO Jeff Weiner explained the reasons behind the acquisition, saying "Presentations are one of the main ways in which professionals capture and share their experiences and knowledge, which in turn helps shape their professional identity."
 
He also added, "These presentations also enable professionals to discover new connections and gain the insights they need to become more productive and successful in their careers, aligning perfectly with LinkedIn's mission and helping us deliver even more value for our members. We're very excited to welcome the SlideShare team to LinkedIn."
 
LinkedIn has also described the acquisition in a small SlideShare presentation.
