Amazon has launch the Kindle Voyage ebook reader in India. The Wi-Fi only Kindle Voyage is priced at Rs. 16,499, while the Wi-Fi + 3G version is available at Rs. 20,499; both prices are in line with what NDTV Gadgets had exclusively reported earlier this month.

Amazon introduced the Kindle Voyage in September last year alongside the 7th generation Kindle. The Voyage is the thinnest Kindle till date, which comes with a 300 pixels-per-inch display sporting the highest resolution, contrast, and brightness seen on any of Amazon's e-readers so far.

The Kindle Voyage comes with a new ambient light sensor that adjusts the brightness of the display as you go along. If you are fond of reading in the dark, you will appreciate this features as Amazon claims the adaptive front light slowly lowers the display's brightness over time as the eye gets used to darkness. The Voyage also uses a haptic actuator to deliver tactile feedback as you turn pages.

Like other 3G Kindles, the Kindle Voyage 3G will come with free 3G in over 100 countries across the world, which means you can browse the Kindle store and download books without needing to connect to Wi-Fi.

The Kindle Voyage Wi-Fi and Kindle Voyage 3G join the 7th generation Kindle (Review), the Kindle Paperwhite, the Kindle Paperwhite 3G (Review), and the previous generation Kindle in the lineup of Amazon e-book readers available in the country, though Amazon is no longer actively promoting the previous generation Kindle on its website.
