Highlights
  • BSNL has revised its Rs. 29 and Rs. 9 recharge packs
  • The Rs. 29 BSNL recharge is offering 1GB data and 300 SMS messages
  • The recharge packs were originally launched in August

The Rs. 9 BSNL recharge now offers 100MB data and 100 SMS messages along with a single day validity

BSNL has revised its Rs. 29 and Rs. 9 recharge packs to come in line with the private telcos. The latest revision comes weeks after the state-owned telco brought Rs. 29 and Rs. 9 recharge packs under its Freedom Offer ahead of India's Independence Day in August. While the original Rs. 29 BSNL recharge was majorly competing against Reliance Jio by offering unlimited data along with an FUP limit of 2GB data per day and 100 SMS messages per day for seven days, the updated Rs. 29 recharge offers 1GB data and 300 SMS messages as total along with the seven-day validity. The Rs. 9 BSNL recharge, on the other hand, was originally giving prepaid subscribers the identical benefits of the Rs. 29 recharge but with a validity of one day. It now offers 100MB data and 100 SMS messages along with a single day validity. Both revised BSNL recharge packs have retained the existing unlimited local calling benefits. The packs also offer unlimited national roaming.

Under the revised BSNL Rs. 29 recharge, the telco is offering unlimited local/ STD voice calling benefits to any network in home circle and national roaming, except Delhi and Mumbai. The recharge pack also offers 1GB data and 300 SMS messages for seven days. It additionally includes free access to PRBT (Personalised Ringback Tone) throughout the validity period. Previously, the Rs. 29 recharge offered unlimited data benefits, 100 SMS messages per day, and free PRBT alongside unlimited voice calling benefits. The recharge did have an FUP limit of 2GB data per day, following which the speed will drop to 80Kbps.

The updated Rs. 9 BSNL recharge offers unlimited local and STD calls to any network in home circle and national roaming except Delhi and Mumbai, 100MB data, and 100 SMS messages for a day.

Contrary to the Rs. 29 and Rs. 9 recharge packs by BSNL, Reliance Jio is currently offering 0.15GB data per day, unlimited voice calls, and 70 SMS messages for seven days with its Rs. 52 recharge, while a Rs. 19 Jio recharge offers identical benefits for a day. The Jio recharge options are available with free access to Jio apps.
