Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), once one of India's premier telecom service providers, has been slowly ramping up its offerings for consumers. In recent months, the state-owned operator has begun rolling out Wi-Fi calling services, along with the CNAP (Caller Name Presentation) feature for its users. Meanwhile, it continues to offer low-priced data plans that offer an affordable alternative to the services offered by Airtel, Jio, and Vi. If you're an existing BSNL customer, you can easily find out details related to your current balance, remaining data allowance, and how long your pack will remain valid.
How to Check BSNL Data Balance
There are multiple methods to check your BSNL data balance.
It can be performed by any customer who has an active BSNL prepaid recharge plan, with or without access to the Internet. If you have a feature phone, then it is as simple as tapping a few buttons on your keypad, leveraging Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) codes. Smartphone users, meanwhile, can download the official BSNL Selfcare app to view details of their plan and their account.
Using BSNL Selfcare App
Download the BSNL Selfcare app from the App Store or the Google Play Store.
Choose your language and tap Next, then tap Register, and fill in the form with your details.
Type your phone number and enter the OTP that you receive via SMS.
Observe the dashboard at the top of the screen to see your plan details.
You can tap the section to see more details such as current balance, available data, and validity of your existing pack.
Using USSD Codes
Launch the dialler or phone app on your smartphone.
Type *123*1# using your smartphone or feature phone's keypad.
Tap the call button to dial the USSD code.
Your balance details will be displayed. You can also enter additional numbers to access additional information.
Start afresh and type *123*5# and press the call button to check your remaining data allowance.
Using WhatsApp
First, save BSNL's official service number, 1800-4444, into your smartphone's contact list.
Now, launch WhatsApp on your device and send a message saying "Hi" to the newly saved BSNL contact.
Wait for a moment, and an automated interactive menu will appear in your chat window.
Review the menu options and reply with the corresponding number or keyword to select your desired service, such as checking your data balance.
