Apps and Websites Game of Thrones Characters Could Really Use

The world of Game of Thrones is full of intrigue, magic and murder, but what is missing is technology. Of course, when the the old kings used to ride around on dragon-back, it makes sense that aeronautical research was discouraged, for example.

As we saw in the previous episode, Oathkeeper, communication is a big problem, and if Bran and his companions had access to Twitter, then the updates coming from Craster's Keep would've been ample warning to stay away.

If you could bring some modern technology, in the form of apps, or games, or gadgets, into the world of Westeros though, then what would make the biggest difference to each character? With the hundreds of key players in George R R Martin's books, we can't think of making an exhaustive list, but here are nine ideas:

1. Joffery Baratheon - Call of Duty
This is a kid with serious anger management issues, and nothing to do with his time. Is there any wonder that the whole Seven Kingdoms were at war? What Joffery needed was to put on a headset, play Call of Duty, and get his rage out by shouting at everyone he played with, instead of sticking people's heads on spikes for fun.

2. Arya Stark - Google Maps

Or this map of Westeros which we wrote about earlier. Seriously, this girl has been marched up and down all over the kingdoms and she still doesn't have any idea of where she is. A good map is a big help!

3. Loras Tyrell - Grindr
Loras, you fell for the oldest trick in the book spilling your guts thanks to a good looking guy Littlefinger aimed at you. Get Grindr, get some dates, and keep things quiet!

4. Margaery Tyrell and Tommen Baratheon - Snapchat
From her visit in the episode Oathkeeper, to her troubles with Cersie in First of his Name, it's clear the Margaery will need to be extra smart to keep lines of communication open with Tommen without getting into trouble, and Snapchat's ephemeral communications will help on that front.

5. Jaime Lannister - Flappy Bird
Jamie needs a diversion, and Flappy Bird is perfect for that. He can play the game with one hand, and the fact that you can't go one minute without a death makes it fit right in to Westeros. With Flappy Bird gone though, one of the many clones will have to do.

6. Tyrion Lannister - Evernote
When everyone in the seven kingdoms is hunting for your head, there are a lot of different plots of keep track of. The Imp needs a place to keep all his information safe, so he can figure out who is trying to do what to whom. Evernote was practically made for this.

7. Ned Stark - TV Tropes
Was anyone surprised that Ned lost his head. There's such a thing as genre awareness, and Ned showed absolutely none of it. Just think, if he'd spent some time on TV Tropes - the way Littlefinger definitely has - then none of the carnage would have happened.

8. Jon Snow - Wikipedia

You know nothing Jon Snow, but thanks to Wikipedia, you can astound Ygritte with as many facts as you like!

9. Varys and Petyr Baelish - Facebook and Twitter

If these two schemers lied in the modern age, they'd be thrilled beyond measure with social media, since they wouldn't even have to bother with prying into people's lives - everything is out there for the taking, for people who're smart enough. And the Spider and Littlefinger are certainly smart enough.

This is just a small sampling, and we hope you'll join in with suggestions via the comments. What app, or gadget or website do you think is perfect for Sansa, or Oberyn Martell, or any of the other many characters from Game of Thrones? Let us know what you think.
