The Hunger Games series has - like almost every other series these days - turned the last book of the franchise into two movies to drag the story (and profits) on a little further. Lionsgate has released the first trailer of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, ahead of the film's November release.

While the film has been a big hit worldwide, the first part of Mockingjay at least was a little awkward, something that can at least partly be attributed to the fact that the book was needlessly split across two movies. It doesn't help that Mockingjay is also probably the least gripping of the books in the series, and to spend so much time on its most minute details feels a little excessive.

But there's no denying that we're excited to see the end of this series with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, and as any book reader can tell you, there's an explosive twist at the end of this book which should leave some fans shocked.

The trailer - which clocks in at 1:47 minutes - is short and actually pretty effective. The film looks stunning, with some truly impressive settings and excellent use of colour. You can also see some big fight scenes and some clips from the attack on the Capitol. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, which stars Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen also features two Game of Thrones stars, Natalie Ddormer and Gwendoline Christie, along with series regulars such as Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Elizabeth Banks, and Donald Sutherland.

Aside from the video, the movie's official Twitter handle also tweeted the following image promoting the movie:

With just a few months to go, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 is actually getting far less promotion than other big films which have been seen feeding the fires a year in advance. Whether this strategy will pay off is something we'll only know in November, but this teaser at least is promising, and we're excited to see more.
