  • Fixes LTE/ Wi-Fi connectivity issue

Apple has finally fixed the LTE connectivity issue reported by several Apple Watch Series 3 users. One of the biggest highlights of the Apple Watch Series 3 unveiled last month was LTE connectivity that would make sure that users do not depend on their iPhones for use. Apple Watch Series 3 users, however, complained about patchy connectivity as well as the Watch model 3 taking time to switch to cellular connectivity or at times failing to switch to cellular connectivity from Wi-Fi. Several reports even claimed that cellular connectivity issues were reported on the unit ahead of its September 22 rollout.

The new software update for the Apple Watch Series 3 models bumps the version to watchOS 4.0.1 and comes roughly a week after the watchOS 4 update was rolled out publicly. The new watchOS 4.0.1 update is now available to download through the Apple Watch app on the iPhone. Users will have to update via General > Software Update. Notably, the all-new watchOS 4.0.1 update is targeted for the Apple Watch Series 3 users.

The update notification says, "watchOS 4.0.1 fixes issues that in rare cases were causing Apple Watch to join unauthenticated (captive) Wi-Fi networks, such as those found in public places like coffee shops and hotels, which direct the user to a webpage before the network can be accessed."

The Apple Watch Series 3 was made available for pre-orders starting mid-September and finally was available from September 22 in various countries including the US, the UK, Australia, Germany. The LTE model of Series 3 has been priced at $399 (roughly Rs. 25,500).
