Dropbox has added iOS photo app Bubbli to its ever-growing list of acquisitions. The popular cloud-storage service will integrate Bubbli's technology into its own platform.

Bubbli allows creation of dynamic spherical photos called bubbles, which offer a 3D-like view of the captured scene. While the Bubbli app is required to record these scenes, they can be played back on any device, including mobile phones, the company's website claims.

TechCrunch reported the acquisition and also shared the following email sent by co-founders Terrence McArdle and Ben Newhouse to Bubbli users:

We have some exciting news to share: Dropbox has acquired bubbli!

We're thrilled to be joining Dropbox. Bubbli's goal has always been to capture experiences in a way that feels like you are not just viewing photos but reliving memories. By joining forces, we'll be able to continue to transform how you experience your memories on a much larger scale.

The bubbles everyone has shared have blown us away. We're working on integrating bubbles into Dropbox and we'll keep you posted on our progress. Until then, you can continue capturing bubbles the same way you have in the past!

Thank you for all your support thus far and here's to the future!

Dropbox has been on a bit of an acquisition spree off-late. Last month, it snapped up photo app Loom and collaborative document tool Hackpad. Earlier, it had acquired corporate chat tool Zulip and social ebook reader Readmill.
