In a new development, Google Assistant is reportedly coming to iOS soon. The tech giant may announce the arrival of the app on the App Store as soon as this week. Google will reportedly take the centre stage at its three-day I/O developers conference - which kicks off with the Google Keynote address on Wednesday at 10:30pm IST - to make this big announcement.

Android Police reports this development, citing people familiar with the matter within the company, and claims the rumour to be highly accurate. While it says the arrival of Google Assistant is imminent, the announcement date is merely a speculation. However, it would be ideal for Google to use I/O for making the announcement.

What Google Assistant will do on iOS, and how it will work is just guess work for now. It could likely serve as a bot, and behave like a 'chat' assistant, something similar to how it works in Allo. It could also listen to voice commands, but will it be able to integrate with other apps, or have a specific tap functionality to open the AI without opening the app, is hard to tell right now.

Details are really vague at the moment about the Assistant app on iOS, but it's arriving soon bringing all the details. This would boost its user base and also encourage developers to build more products around Google Assistant in the future - both hardware and software.

The report also notes that the app will be launched in US only at launch, with no details on international availability hinted. Notably, Google Assistant's SDK was made available to developers just last month. The three-day Google developers' conference begins on May 17 i.e. Wednesday.
