Google has updated the Google Drive app for the iPhone and iPad overhauling the user interface with a card-like design in line with the interface of its other apps.

The new interface allows users to browse and preview files more conveniently as it now offers a card-style thumbnail layout. However, users can toggle between the thumbnail view and the traditional list view with the tap of a button. According to Google, the latest version of the Drive app groups files and folders more intuitively instead of mixing them together.

The update also adds new features to the app bringing it on par with the Drive Android app. The app now allows users to view and edit files in landscape mode, as well. The update also brings the ability to get the link for any Drive file in case users need to include the link in an email, add it to a note, or share it via any other medium.

Users can also moving files to other Google Drive folders or share it with a friend through the same details view.

Another new change that Google's introduced is that it's placed the Search bar at the forefront, right at the top for searching through files and folders stored in Drive.

The updated app is available in the App Store.

Earlier this year, Google had introduced file previews in the Google Drive desktop app allowing users to quickly preview more than 30 file types and quickly flip between files. The Google Drive Android app also offers card-style previews for files. It even allows users to stream video files.
