At the sidelines of its iOS 9 release, Apple on Wednesday also launched a major update to iTunes for Mac and Windows, bringing it up to version 12.3. The update, among other features and improvements, finally brings support for two-factor authentication to the media player, which is also an online radio broadcaster, and can be used to manage an Apple device.

The company has been gradually rolling out this feature to all of its products and services. As of now, iTunes, iMessage, and FaceTime among others offer this additional security protection. The company ramped up its security efforts after the "The Fappening" fiasco in which nude images of several Hollywood celebrities got leaked.

In addition to support for two-factor authentication, the update also improves the accessibility of Apple Music with VoiceOver, and offers several other fixes. The company noted that the new iTunes has been updated to support iOS 9, its latest mobile operating system, and features OS X El Capitan design elements, the forthcoming update to its desktop operating system. Apple has also brought several security-related updates in the new release.
