The Google Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P owners would finally be able to remove some Google apps from the device. Dave Burke, VP of Engineering of Android during the Tuesday event, made the announcement. He said the company has created a 'new system' that would let users uninstall Google apps.

"With the new Nexus devices, we've reduced the number of preloaded apps on the phone, to make the out-of-box experience cleaner and simpler. We've also developed a new system that moves over a quarter of our apps to a post-setup installation phase, which means they can be uninstalled just like any other apps," said Burke at the event.

The Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P users would be able to uninstall Google Docs, Fit, Google+, Keep, News, Play Books, Sheets, Slides, and Weather. However, apps including Clock, Gmail, Phone, Play Store, and Settings would stay intact. It has been noted that this feature is limited to the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P for now and not the older Nexus devices eligible for Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, said a company spokesperson to Betanews.

Talking about apps, the new Google Camera app shipping with both the new Nexus smartphones comes with new features, including slo-motion videos. While the Nexus 5X camera can record videos in 120fps, the Nexus 6P camera can record videos in 240fps. The latter also comes with support for slowing down a video to 48fps as well. Notably, Apple introduced slow-motion video recording to its iPhone models with the iPhone 5s. While the iPhone 5s supported 120fps video recording, the iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus feature 240fps video recording.

The Google Camera app on the Nexus 6P additionally supports the Smart Burst feature, which can take burst photos at 30fps. Users can either create gif images with this feature, or let the app auto select the best image. Besides a redesigned interface, which lets users swipe between still and video, the Google Camera app features a new HDR+ mode, which automatically detects when a HDR image can be shot based on environment light conditions. There is no mention of when the Google Camera app for non-Nexus devices will get the new features.

Both the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P house 12.3-megapixel camera with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture lens, alongside an 8-megapixel front facing camera with HDR+ mode support. The phones can also launch the Google Camera app by double-tapping the power button. The duo are already available for pre-orders in the US and would start shipping in October. The India prices are out as well.
