Marvel's The Punisher, the Netflix spin-off centred on Jon Bernthal's Daredevil character, has added three new characters for its in-production season two: Josh Stewart (Insidious: The Last Key, Shooter), Floriana Lima (Lethal Weapon, Supergirl), and Giorgia Whigham (Scream, Sierra Burgess is a Loser).

All three are series regulars. Stewart will play John Pilgrim, a man whose calm exterior belies a ruthless interior. "Despite having left behind a life of violence, circumstances will force him to use his old skills and bring him into Frank Castle’s world," the official description adds.

Lima has been cast as Krista Dumont, a smart, compassionate, and driven psychotherapist for military veterans. That leaves Whigham, who will portray Amy Bendix, a street-smart grifter with a mysterious past.

Marvel's The Punisher Is a Terrific, Violent Addition to Netflix

“Josh, Floriana and Giorgia are all remarkable talents and we can’t wait for the audience to see what we have in store for them in the second season of Marvel’s The Punisher,” Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television and executive producer on The Punisher, said in the announcement.

“We are incredibly excited to have Josh, Floriana and Giorgia joining the cast of Marvel’s The Punisher and seeing them bring their talents to the next chapter in the Frank Castle story,” Steve Lightfoot, The Punisher showrunner and fellow executive producer, added.

The three new cast members will join returning cast members in Bernthal as Frank Castle, Ben Barnes as Billy Russo, Amber Rose Revah as Dinah Madani, and Jason R. Moore as Curtis Hoyle.

Neither Marvel nor Netflix have commented on a release date for The Punisher season 2. But given that Jessica Jones season 2 is out next week, and new seasons of Daredevil and Luke Cage due later this year, we'd guess mid-2019 at the earliest.
