Highlights
  • The PS4 500GB console will now cost Rs. 27,990
  • The 1TB variant will set you back by Rs. 32,990
  • This is for the original PS4, not the PS4 Slim or PS4 Pro

The PS4 has received a price drop in India. Earlier a 500GB PS4 would cost Rs. 32,990 while a 1TB version would cost Rs. 37,990. Now the 500GB PS4 is priced at Rs. 27,990 while the 1TB variant is priced at Rs. 32,990. Several websites have already refreshed their listings to reflect these prices. This is not the PS4 Slim or the PS4 Pro - both these consoles do not have a release date for India yet. Rather, this applies to the original PS4.

While Rs. 27,990 is a decent starting price for the PS4, keep in mind that this does not include any games. Meanwhile, the 1TB PS4 comes in two bundles. The first one has the console with Driveclub and The Last of Us Remastered while the second comes with Uncharted 4. Both bundles cost the same - Rs. 32,990.

However don’t expect to get your hands on either console at the new prices any time soon. According to several retailers speaking to Gadgets 360, supply is sparse. Perhaps Sony India wants to get rid of excess inventory before bringing in the PS4 Slim and maybe, the PS4 Pro?

Nonetheless, given how e-commerce companies are falling over each other to provide the lowest prices, we won't be surprised to see the 500GB PS4 be available for under Rs. 26,000 in the weeks to come or a reduced price on existing bundles. Reason being, Sony’s holiday lineup sports a host of new ones internationally. Hopefully we won’t have to wait too long to find out. Will you pick up the PS4 at its newly discounted price or do you prefer the Xbox One (or One S)? Let us know in the comments.
