Xbox One Media Remote listed briefly on Amazon Canada

Besides the Kinect, Smartglass, and Xbox One Controller, a new seemingly official Microsoft Xbox device was spotted on Amazon Canada, dubbed Xbox One Media Remote. The listing has now been removed, though a cached copy of the page is still being circulated.

The Xbox One Media Remote, not yet officially announced by Microsoft, is expected to bring back the traditional sense of navigating console menus, switch apps, pause, play and rewind media, for users who do not want to use gesture controls that the Kinect offers. The Xbox One Media remote, as the name suggests, is assumed to be compatible only with the Xbox One console and not its previous versions.

The price that had been listed on Amazon's Canadian website is CDN$ 24.99 (or roughly Rs. 1,400), which seems to be a fair deal for the users.

The Xbox One Media Remote has slightly less number of buttons as compared to conventional remote controllers, and includes not much more than navigating buttons, volume increase/decrease buttons and stop, play, rewind media buttons.

The now-removed Amazon Canada listing also revealed that the device will be available by 4 March 2014. However, the leak should be taken with a pinch of salt as there can be several changes made till the time it gets officially released.

Talking about the Xbox One, it was recently reported that Microsoft allegedly tried to illegally promote its latest console through videos on YouTube, by offering incentives to video partners such as Machinima for mentioning Xbox One in their videos.

The email, which detailed the deal between Machinima and Microsoft, revealed that the video partners will be paid $3 for every 1,000 views. In order to get the incentive, partners would need to include a 30-second video clip of an Xbox One game in a video, specifically mention they are playing on the Xbox One, tag the video with XB1M13, and submit the link through Poptent (video marketing site).
