In our weekly column Personally Tech, we talk to the men and women from different walks of life who are making the products we love. Some of the people we've spoken to in the past include Ankush Gera, CEO Junglee Games, Goodservice Founder Vipul Aggarwal, and Biteclub founder Prateek Agarwal.

This week, we caught up with Sanjay Purohit, the founder CEO of iProf, a mobile-focused educational platform, which offers over 2,000 courses to students. This IIT-Mumbai and IIM-Ahmedabad alumnus started his career as an IAS officer before entering the private sector, and he tells Gadgets 360 that one of his favourite books is Alvin Toffler's Future Shock.

Read on to know more about the apps and gadgets that Purohit swears by.

Describe your technology setup - what computer/ phone/ tablet/ camera/ gaming console/ other gadgets do you use?
Sanjay Purohit: I am currently using Samsung Galaxy S6. It's the latest device in the Samsung Galaxy arsenal, and is a powerhouse of a phone. I travel a lot and need to be connected at all times. This phone is a breeze to carry, with a perfect weight to screen ratio. This single device is efficient in managing all my needs from keeping a tab on my emails to managing my scheduler, reading, browsing etc.

What are three apps (mobile/ tablet or PC/ Mac) you couldn't live without?
Sanjay Purohit: Well, I have grown up in times of no Internet. So to speak in the literal sense, there is no app that I couldn't live without. However, if Gmail and Economic Times disappeared all of a sudden, I would miss them dearly. I also like the Ola cabs app.

Which is the one gadget (other than your phone) you never travel without?
Sanjay Purohit: I am an avid reader and I have found reading on Kindle to be so much easier and comfortable than reading on phone or my laptop. Kindle Paperwhite is one of my favorite gadgets. Reading on it is so much organic than reading on any of the other devices. It preserves the essence of reading a paperback while giving enormous expansion capabilities, versatility and ease-of-use. My favorite books are The Bhagavad Gita, The Innovator's Dilemma, and Future Shock.

What is your dream gadget/ technology setup?
Sanjay Purohit: My dream gadget setup is one where gadgets are more interactive and cost effective than they presently are, with better, more open bridging. We are walking towards this point at a rapid pace.

Other than this, I want technology to be available to all people on an equitable basis. Today, there are so many people that are bereft of the benefits of modern technology and are leading tough lives. Though, technology is not a direct solution to a lot of problems faced by such people, but it is an efficient means of delivering solutions.

Furthermore in my opinion, everybody should be able to benefit from emerging and evolving technology.

How has technology changed the way in which you work?
Sanjay Purohit: Not just I, technology has changed the very essence of work for everyone! Personally, technology has given me the building material to construct my long seen dream of taking education to each and every corner of the country into reality. It is this evolving technology that has made iProf possible for me and thousands of other students, parents and teachers; without it, it would have been rather difficult to realise this idea.

Other than this, technology has modified the nature of work by providing reliable and open channels of communication. It has diffused the physical boundaries of places, people and ideas. I can very easily share my ideas with my team and get their views in real time from anywhere in the world and we can start pursuing these ideas as soon as we feel ready, all credit for this efficiency goes to modern technology.
