Instagram is pretty serious about expanding its web operations and offer users an experience similar to its mobile app on iOS and Android. In the latest news, the photo sharing app has redesigned its mobile photo pages to match up to its web counterpart. The idea is to offer users the convenience and ease of viewing photos outside of the mobile app.

In the image above, Instagram's mobile photo pages features on the left while the web-based version is on the right. After logging in, users can tap the 'heart' and 'bubble' icons to like and comment on photos directly from the mobile web browser. A new 'Open in App' button on the top right will take users directly to the Instagram app on their mobile, with the current photo being loaded. Users can further navigate to their profile page or check their photo feeds.

Currently, Instagram's offering on the web is next to nothing. There's not much you can do apart from just editing your profile or logging out. But recent rumours suggest that the it will soon land on the web. The future of its mobile app look pretty bright with Facebook having officially acquired the photo sharing service, following the FTC approval, also marking the 5 billion photo milestone.

The Facebook-acquired service has also crossed 100 million users as revealed by Mark Zuckerberg and a Windows Phone app is making its way in October. These are just humble beginnings for Instagram and we're waiting to see what's next.
