The Planning Commission and National Innovation Council (NIC) will organise a two-day hackathon on the 12th Five Year Plan on April 6-7.

"The hackathon will last for 32 hours during which participants will gather in teams across India to compete for interesting prizes in three categories - mobile/web applications, infographics and short films," an official statement said Wednesday.

The hackathon, in which computer programmers and others collaborate on software projects, will be organised simultaneously in 11 locations across the country and participants can join it virtually.

Some hackathons are intended for educational or social purposes.
