Twitter has been on an update releasing spree since its eighth birthday in March. The micro-blogging network has now announced another update, this time for its Web layout.

Twitter has announced an update that will add a third column to users' accounts using the desktop service. Notably, the update does not add any new features, but just moves the 'Who to follow' widget to a new third column on the right side. Earlier, the 'Who to follow' section appeared beneath the profile bio of a user on the left side, accompanied by the 'Trends' widget.

The Twitter update, first reported by Next Web, now puts the tweets in the centre of the page, with the left side now only includes the users' profile bio and the current 'Trends' widget.

The social major claims that the new update will make accessing Twitter more flexible on various screen sizes. The new update to the Twitter Web layout is in-line with company's redesigned user profile pages rolled out earlier.

Earlier, Twitter introduced a new feature for advertisers, helping them target users based on different languages. The language targeting feature was rolled to all advertisers globally and through Twitter's advertisement API. Advertisers would be able to feature their Promoted Tweets and Promoted Accounts in 20 different languages, along with the use of language-specific analytics, to help them serve users with highly relevant ads in their own language.

Prior to this, Twitter was said to be testing a new 'mute' account feature in its apps. The 'mute' feature reportedly offered an option to hide an account's tweets from the Twitter feed; without unfollowing the account.

Notably on April 30, Twitter shares hit their lowest point since debut based on company-reported weak user growth.
