Chrome OS Users Can Now Stream Google Drive Videos via Chromecast
Google Chrome OS users will now be able to cast movies directly from the Google Drive with the help of the updated Video Player app, part of a 'Dev Update'.

According to a Google+ post on Saturday by Francois Beaufort, Chromium Evangelist at Google, the 'last Dev Update of Chrome OS' (found here) includes the updated Video Player app for Chromecasting movies directly from their Google Drive accounts, as well as an updated version of the File Manager.

Now Chrome OS users can simply open the Files app, select the Drive section, play a movie and they will see the new Chromecast icon in the Video Player app to cast it to a big screen with the help of Chromecast dongle. Those who don't see the new Chromecast icon will have to first install or enable the Google Cast Extension.

Last week, Google announced the launch of the first set of Android apps for Chrome OS devices (such as Chromebook and Chromebox machines), as promised during this year's I/O Keynote,

The company had announced 4 apps - namely Duolingo, a free language-learning app; Evernote, the popular note taking app; Sight Words, an app to help improve your child's reading skills, and Vine, for creating short, looping videos - have landed on Chrome OS.

Ken Mixter, Software Engineer and Josh Woodward, Product Manager at Google, in a Chrome blog post titled "First set of Android apps coming to a Chromebook near you", had announced the release of the 4 Android apps and said, "Today, we're making Chromebooks even more mobile by bringing the first set of Android apps to Chrome OS. These first apps are the result of a project called the App Runtime for Chrome (Beta), which we announced earlier this summer at Google I/O."
