Apple has released a software update for its new MacBook Air (Mid-2013) to fix an issue related to the portable computers losing Wi-Fi connectivity as well as issues related to flickering of screen  while using Adobe Photoshop. The update also claims to fix audio volume fluctuating issues while playing a video.

The update is 3.35MB in size and can be downloaded via the Mac App Store or via Apple's website.

Apple mentions on its support page:

This update fixes an issue that in rare instances may cause an intermittent loss in wireless connectivity, an issue with Adobe Photoshop which may cause occasional screen flickering, and an issue which may cause audio volume to fluctuate during video playback.

A number of users started complaining on support forums of both Apple and Adobe that they were experiencing severe flickering of the display with some 2013 13-inch MacBook Air models while using Adobe Photoshop.

Following this, Adobe's Chris Cox had said that the issue could be related to a driver or GPU (graphics processor), or possibly a problem with the LCD driver circuits. He had also said that Adobe had not been able to reproduce the issue, indicating that it could be a problem limited to some specific MacBook models.

Owners of the new Haswell (Intel's 4th generation Core) processor powered MacBooks also complained about Wi-Fi performance issues on Apple's support forums, as per Gizmodo.

It's worth pointing out that the new MacBooks offer support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi standard which offers much faster connectivity with compatible network equipment.

Apple had unveiled the new generation MacBook Air ultra-portable notebooks in June. The new machines are powered by the latest fourth generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors and bring big gains in battery life. While the 13-inch MacBook Air claims to give a battery life of 12 hours instead of the 7 hours earlier, the 11-inch MacBook Air claims to last for 9 hours instead of the 5 hours in the previous generation.
