We've also mentioned a couple of phones at the end which haven't been put through our stringent review process, but which we've seen in action, or used variants of, so you have all the options you need.

1. Xiaomi Redmi 4A
The Xiaomi Redmi 4A is a really strong contender for best phone under Rs. 8,000, as we noted in our review as well. The phone is small and light, with good battery life too, though the camera performance is somewhat poor, as is the case for almost all phones in this price segment.

The 5-inch phone has an 8-megapixel rear, and 5-megapixel front camera, with a 3120mAh battery, and comes with 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a 1.4GHz quad-core processor.

2. Micromax Evok Power
Released in April, the Micromax Evok Power is priced at Rs. 6,999, and delivers good value for money, as we note in our review. On the other hand, the camera is disappointing. It makes up for this to an extent with good battery life, and a nice design.

The 5-inch phone has a HD-ready display resolution, and a large 4000mAh battery. It's powered by 2GB RAM and a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, along with 16GB storage, and a decent choice amongst the group of best phones under Rs. 8,000.

3. Coolpad Mega 2.5D
With a nice design, decent battery life, and a battery that charges quickly, the Coolpad Mega 2.5D looked good in our review, but the interface felt sluggish, and the cameras are strictly average.

In terms of specs, it's one of two phones in the list with 3GB RAM, but it pairs this with a 1GHz quad-core processor, and 16GB storage. The battery is 2500mAh and the usage time you get out of it isn't as good as the others in the pack of top mobiles under Rs. 8,000.

4. Intex Elyt e7
Launched at Rs. 7,999, the Intex Elyt e7 suffers in the camera department, but packs in a big battery that we confirmed in our review delivers good battery life, and otherwise runs near stock Android.

The phone packs 3GB RAM, 32GB storage, and runs Android 7.0 out of the box, and the 5.2-inch display runs at HD-ready resolution. It's powered by a 1.25GHz quad-core processor, and has a 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 5-megapixel front camera.

5. Coolpad Mega 3
The Coolpad Mega 3 has a nice display and design, but despite decent specs, our review showed that the performance could be better. Its camera is also very average, but battery life makes it stand out and makes it a contender in the list of best phones under Rs. 8,000. So

It has a 5.50inch display, running at HD-ready resolution, and there's an 8-megapixel camera on the rear, and another one on the back. The phone has a 1.25GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, and 16GB storage.

These are our five picks for the best phones under Rs. 8,000. As mentioned above, if your budget is a little more flexible, then you should definitely check out our picks for the best phones under Rs. 10,000 as well. Apart from these, there are two other phones in the budget which we have not reviewed, but are definitely worth mentioning. The first of these is the Xiaomi Redmi 4 - in the 2GB variant. Gadgets 360 has reviewed the Xiaomi Redmi 4, but we had tested the 3GB variant, which is priced at Rs. 8,999. If that's not a deal breaker, then the Redmi 4 is a good alternative to the Redmi 4A, with a bigger battery, and a slightly newer processor.

Another phone that you can consider, although we have not carried out a detailed review yet, is the Motorola Moto E4. Available for Rs. 8,450, the phone is good looking and the near-stock experience that Motorola provides is always a good thing. We used the phone for a little while and liked it, but without our full review process, could not consider it for the main list.

Those are all the phones we think you should be looking at if you are in the market for the best mobile experience under Rs. 8,000 - if we missed a phone you think should be on the list, share it with us and the other readers via the comments. And if you've used one of these phones, tell us about your experience with it.
