India's smartphone market has arrived at an interesting point. Buyers are no longer satisfied with just solid performance or attractive design, they now expect devices that can think smarter, capture better, and last longer. Cameras and AI are no longer side features, they are the very heart of the buying decision among consumers.

Our India Festive Smartphone Trends 2025 survey, conducted with over 5,000 respondents across India, offers a revealing snapshot of these changing priorities. The survey findings highlight where consumer preferences are leaning in 2025, how budgets are shifting, and how Motorola has emerged as a serious contender across price segments.

What Really Drives Decisions

When asked what matters most in their next smartphone purchase, the survey respondents placed camera quality firmly at the top, with 77.4 percent calling it a decisive factor. Battery and charging speed came next at 67.7 percent, while AI features and display quality followed at just over 50 percent each. Performance, storage, and brand loyalty trailed but remained important for more than four in ten buyers.

For Motorola, these priorities read like a checklist. Its Motorola Edge 60 Pro, for example, brings a Pantone-validated triple 50MP camera system (with a Sony LYTIA 700C sensor, ultra-wide macro, and telephoto with 50X AI Super Zoom) and motoAI features like AI Action Shot and AI Signature Style. Add to this a 6.7-inch 1.5K True Colour Quad-Curved display, a massive 6,000mAh battery with 90W TurboPower, and IP68 IP69 durability. It is also available in 4 stunning Pantone colors along with premium finishes – PANTONE Dazzling Blue (fabric finish), PANTONE Walnut (wood finish) and PANTONE Shadow and PANTONE Sparkling Grape (vegan leather) and it stands out as true Looks Performance Camera Champion making it clear why it topped the preferences in the Rs. 30,000 bracket. Moreover, Motorola is offering the smartphone at lowest ever festive pricing of ₹24,999* (8 256GB), ₹28,999 (12 256GB), and ₹32,999* 16 512GB) on Flipkart.

Bigger Budgets, Higher Stakes

The survey confirms what many industry watchers suspected: Indian buyers are moving upmarket. A massive 35.5 percent of respondents plan to spend over Rs. 30,000 on their next device, while another 25.8 percent aim for the Rs. 20,000 – Rs. 30,000 bracket. This aspirational climb plays directly to Motorola's strengths, with its Edge series targeting users who want flagship-level features without stretching into ultra-premium pricing.

It packs a world- Super HD pOLED display with truly curved Quad-Curved display, a 50MP Sony LYT 700C sensor with OIS, and IP68 IP69 military-grade durability tested for drops and extreme conditions. Meanwhile, the Motorola Edge 60 Fusion, a favourite under Rs. 20,000, delivers a world-most immersive 1.5K Quad-Curved pOLED display with best ever screen to body ratio of 96.47% and high degree curvature of 45degree, a 50MP Sony sensor with OIS, and military-grade durability tested for extreme conditions. Buyers are choosing it not just for design, but for its balance of cameras, AI, and everyday toughness.

Even in the mid-range, the moto g96 5G has become the go-to under Rs. 15,000 with its segment-first 144Hz curved pOLED display, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 performance, and 50MP Sony camera system with AI enhancements. The newer moto g86 Power doubles down on endurance with a 6,720mAh battery, the biggest in Moto G history, paired with a 1.5K pOLED display at 4500nits peak brightness.

And for those seeking style, Motorola has also carved space with the razr 60, which blends a reinforced titanium hinge tested for 500,000 flips, a 6.9-inch creaseless LTPO main display, and Pantone-validated cameras with motoAI. Its largest external display in the segment and premium finishes like marble and fabric make it a strong contender in the Rs. 40,000 flip-phone category.

Cameras in the Spotlight

Cameras are probably the most significant feature in a smartphone today. Two-thirds of respondents said they look for advanced sensors and professional-grade video stabilisation. Low light photography and AI auto-editing followed at 45.2 percent, while ultra-wide and telephoto versatility also drew significant interest among the respondents.

Motorola's strategy matches these demands closely. From 4K video on every lens across the Edge and G-series, to AI-powered stabilisation and photo enhancement engines, the brand is delivering tools that democratise professional-style photography. While vivo misses out on an ultrawide camera and OnePlus lacks a good sensor and does not feature Sony optics, Motorola sets itself apart with Sony LYTIA sensors across its entire portfolio, ensuring segment-leading camera quality.

- Motorola Edge 60 Pro: Its triple-camera setup is designed for versatility—whether ultra-wide landscapes, zoomed-in detail shots, or selfies with its 50MP front camera. AI features like AI Signature Style, which lets users personalise images with unique looks, and Adaptive Stabilisation, which keeps videos smooth even on the move, ensure every shot looks polished. While vivo and OnePlus only rely on Google's standard AI camera features rebranded in their UI, Motorola delivers advanced, in-house AI innovations that go beyond basic enhancements.

- Motorola Edge 60 Fusion: Balances its 50MP Sony sensor with motoAI tools and Google's AI Magic Eraser, Unblur, and Magic Editor. For consumers who want effortless photo clean-up and editing, the Fusion hits the sweet spot.

- moto g96 5G: Supports 4K across lenses and adds AI-based photo enhancements, making advanced imaging more accessible under Rs. 15,000.

- moto g86 Power: With its 50MP Sony LYT 600 main sensor and AI editing features, it appeals to buyers looking for dependable cameras alongside battery-first design.

- razr 60: A favourite for those prioritising style, the flip phone brings Pantone-validated True Color cameras, AI enhancements, and the flexibility of its large external display for selfies and vlogs, ideal for respondents who value both design and camera capabilities.

The AI Imperative

AI has moved from buzzword to baseline. Nearly 60 percent of respondents rated it as very or extremely important. Voice assistants (58.1 percent) and AI-powered photo and video enhancements (45.2 percent) lead the way, while features like smart battery management (35.5 percent) and generative AI tools (32.3 percent) are gaining ground.

Motorola's motoAI feels particularly timely and future ready. motoAI enables users to predict their NEXT MOVE and give contexual suggestions basis what users are browsing on the screen. Moreover, it has GenAI tools like AI Playlist Studio which can curate playlist basis any theme or prompt, AI Image Studio to create emojis, stickers and images based on the prompts shared or user's context on messages. With highly useful assist features like Catch Me Up to summarize all user notifications in 1 screen and with Remember feature to save and recall anything anytime, motoAI addresses various regular use cases spanning around creativity, productivity, and utility. The integration of motoAI alongside third-party assistants like Co-pilot, Gemini, and Perplexity also shows Motorola isn't limiting choice, it's expanding it.

The Big Picture

Our India festive smartphone trends 2025 survey makes one conclusion unavoidable, Indian smartphone buyers are raising expectations across the board. They want professional-grade cameras, intelligent AI features, and reliable performance, all in devices that feel premium yet attainable.

Motorola now finds itself in the market as one of the most consistent performers across segments. From the Motorola Edge 60 Pro and motorola Edge 60 Fusion in the premium-midrange, to the moto g96 5G and g86 Power in the value tier, and even the motorola razr 60 for flip enthusiasts, the brand is striking a chord with consumers who no longer want to compromise.

As festive season sales get underway, the competition will be fierce. But if the survey is any indication, Motorola's ability to deliver on the features buyers prize most could help it sharpen its edge in India's smartphone race.
