  • Huawei to also gain from Galaxy Note 7 fire issue
  • Google Pixel phones could also take over some of the marketshare

Apple's iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus could be the biggest beneficiaries of Samsung officially killing its Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. According to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the gap left by Samsung Galaxy Note 7 could mean massive gain for the likes of Apple and some Android manufacturers including Huawei. Kuo predicts that around 5 to 7 million users who were using - or planning to buy - the Galaxy Note 7 will switch to iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Kuo believes that out of approximately 12 million Galaxy Note 7 orders, Apple should be able to get roughly half of the users on-board the Apple mobile ecosystem. Kuo claims that Huawei could get the biggest benefit amongst Android manufacturers. Google's Pixel range is also expected to gain from the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco that is expected to cause Samsung roughly $5.3 billion (roughly Rs. 35,433 crores) in total losses due to the discontinuation of the smartphone.

Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 safety issues in the last month or so have become the company's worst nightmare in its history and if a new survey is to be believed, the fire incidents have made a major dent in Samsung's brand image. According to a recent survey conducted in the US, 40 percent of existing Samsung smartphone users "won't buy another phone from the brand."

Currently, Samsung's biggest hope of surviving in the premium smartphone segment is its flagship Galaxy S7 series. The South Korean company is rolling out software update to Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge that adds Galaxy Note 7-note like features to the smartphone.
