Google on Wednesday announced Android screen mirroring feature is rolling out for Chromecast. Users will now be able to mirror their Android smartphones and tablets to a big screen with the help of the Chromecast app. The feature was first announced last month at Google I/O 2014, along with other Chromecast features.

This Android mirroring feature is currently in beta and will be supported by Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 (2013), Nexus 10, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition, Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Samsung Galaxy Note 10, HTC One (M7), HTC One (M7) Google Play Edition, LG G3, LG G2, and LG G Pro 2 devices only for now. Google says that it will soon provide support for additional devices. The screen mirroring is currently not supported on iOS devices.

Google has also started rolling out the updated Chromecast app (version 1.7) to the Google Play store, and it will gradually become available globally soon.

Users can simply start mirroring their compatible Android devices from the Chromecast app over a Wi-Fi network. Once connected to same Wi-Fi as the Chromecast dongle, users from the navigation drawer in the app can select 'Cast Screen' and then select the Chromecast device. On Nexus devices, the casting feature is also available through the quick settings menu.

In order to disconnect the device, the same procedure can be followed or can also be disconnected from the notification drop down in Android devices.

"Starting today[June 9], you can mirror your Android phone and tablet to the TV so you can see your favourite apps, photos or anything else, exactly as you see it on your mobile device-only bigger," said Ambarish Kenghe, Chromecast Product Manager and Cast Master, Google.
