Huawei India Looks to Strengthen Retail Presence With New Smartphones

Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei on Tuesday said it was looking to strengthen its retail presence as it launched a new series of smartphones that will be available offline only.

The newly launched smartphones - the Huawei Y336, Huawei Y541, Huawei Y625, and Huawei G620S - will be available under Huawei's G and Y series between the price range of Rs. 5,499 and Rs. 9,499.

"To reach out to our consumers in key markets, Huawei range would be available through a strong distribution network in offline retail beginning with a 1,000 stores roll out in the next 4-8 weeks," said P. Sanjeev, Director - Sales (Devices Business), Huawei Telecommunications India.

"For the brand new series, we will be strengthening our presence with traditional multi-brand retailers and by partnering with top modern trade players such as Croma, Reliance Digital, Sangeetha Retail and The Mobile Store in key cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai amongst others," he added.

The company also aims to gain a 10 percent market share in the budget segment. "We are very bullish on our growth in India and expect to capture a 10 percent market share in the period of one year," Sanjeev said.

Allen Wang, President of Consumer Business Group, Huawei Telecommunications India, added, "After the global success in the first half of 2015 with our smartphones sales crossing 50 million units, making us global number 3, we are excited to launch our 'Huawei Brand' series in India. The good news is that the new series will be available through the retail route where our customers can experience the products first hand. Keeping in mind the value proposition and commitment we offer to our consumers, Huawei is rapidly strengthening its after sales network to serve them better."
