The cat is finally out of the bag. While Apple hasn't yet talked about the RAM module on its new devices - and it probably never will - enthusiasts have dug around to get the information out. The company has reportedly given the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus 2GB of RAM, and the iPad Pro 4GB of RAM.

Developer Hamza Sood scrutinised code in Xcode 7 GM to reveal that the iPhone 6s as well as the iPhone 6s Plus come with 2GB of RAM. He also found that the iPad Pro comes with 4GB of RAM. The latter is in line with Adobe's accidental reveal last week in which it noted that the iPad Pro comes with 4GB of RAM, but later quietly updated its blog post to remove that piece information.

Despite being on the "s" upgrade cycle, that's a huge improvement. The iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus sported 1GB of RAM each, as per teardown reports following the launch.

Moving forward, the iPad Pro's 4GB of RAM is also a substantial upgrade over iPad Air 2's 2GB of RAM. The additional memory should allow for more intensive computational tasks, offering a better user experience. On the new iPhone models for instance, the 2GB of RAM will help keep them usable when capturing 4K UHD videos.

The 4GB of RAM on the iPad Pro would offset the memory requirements to run multiple programs side-by-side, and also would be required to run high-end memory hogging apps like Photoshop Fix, and more to come.

Last week we also learned that the iPhone 6s comes with a smaller battery compared to the iPhone 6. More details are expected when the new iOS devices are put through teardowns.
