Motorola X phone rumoured to be the first device to ship with Android Key Lime Pie

Motorola has called dibs on Key Lime Pie or Android 5.0 as we know it. According to DroidForums, the X-phone, which Google is working on alongside Motorola, will be the first device to come with the latest Android OS and can witness a debut at Google I/O event scheduled to take place in May in San Francisco.
 
The forum has also mentioned that it will feature a 5-inch edge-to-edge display with no bezel. Furthermore, it will not be categorised as a 'Nexus' device and will compete as a new sub-brand. The site adds that the raw Android on the smartphone will be skinned with a Nexus-like UI atop.
 
While this will not be a Nexus device, supposedly, Motorola has been working hard to create a UI that both compliments and enhances the Android experience, and is intended to be Nexus-like.
 
It goes on to say that the company is working on software add-ons that will be integrated into the new UI and include a host of fresh features that could compete against Samsung's S-Beam, S-Voice and the like. Though the post ask us to take in the rumour with "a grain of salt", it does some feasible to an extent.
 
Google had been rather quiet post its acquisition of Motorola with no new handset announcements or otherwise. The search giant acquired Motorola in May last year for $12.5 billion to bolster its patent portfolio as its Android OS competes with rivals such as Apple and Samsung.
 
In December last year, The Wall Street Journal quoted people familiar with the matter saying that Motorola is working on two fronts: devices that will be sold by carrier partner Verizon Wireless and on the X phone. It also mentioned that the company could make use of its recent acquisition of Viewdle, an imaging and gesture-recognition software development company to uplift the X-phone's capabilities.
 
Not just that, the company is also expected to work on an "X" tablet after the phone becomes a reality. Google Chief Executive Larry Page is said to have promised a significant marketing budget for the unit as claimed by the Journal's sources.
