  • The Galaxy Note 6 is tipped to arrive in early August.
  • It is expected to sport a 10nm 6GB RAM module.
  • It may run on Android N out-of-the-box.

Samsung traditionally unveils its new Galaxy Note variants in fall every year, and now a fresh leak brings more clarity and tips at a possible early-August release.

Tipster extraordinaire Evan Blass, aka @evleaks has taken to social media to hint that the Galaxy Note 6 - which is separately tipped to be called the Galaxy Note 7 instead - may be launched exactly two months from today. This decodes it to a possible August 3 launch event, or at least early in the month. Interestingly, this in in line with Blass' previous claim of a possible US release around August 15. If true, this early release could be a strategic move by Samsung to fend off competition from Apple - something Samsung had done last year as well with an August launch of the Galaxy Note 5.

Apart from the launch date, the specs of the Galaxy Note 6 have also been leaked recently. So far, the phablet is expected to come with a 5.8-inch QHD display. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC and paired with 6GB of RAM. The RAM will be offered in a 10nm chip for improved power consumption alongside better performance.

It will keep the base storage option as 32GB. There will be a choice to expand memory via a microSD card as well. Optics include a 12-megapixel rear camera, and Dual Pixel setup in the front.

There's a possible comeback of the Edge variant as well. Samsung had reportedly ditched the Edge variant alongside the Galaxy Note 5 last year due to problems with the stylus. It is additionally tipped to sport an iris scanner, be waterproof, and come with Android N out-of-the-box.
