Samsung Galaxy S10 Leaks Tip LPDDR5 RAM, Storage, and Camera Details

As Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked event draws closer for the grand launch of the flagship Galaxy S10 lineup, leaks have picked up the pace and new information is trickling down on a regular basis. A new leak suggests that all Galaxy S10 variants will pack the faster LPDDR5 RAM, while another leak tips the storage configuration of the different Galaxy S10 variants. The new revelation also corroborates previous leaks about the camera sensors and the presence of ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors on the higher-end Galaxy S10 models.

The latest Galaxy S10 leaks cover a wide range of topics from the upcoming smartphone's memory details to its imaging hardware, aside from shedding some light on its 5G variant as well as Samsung's foldable smartphone. To start off, Max J. of SamsungMobile.News tweeted that the Galaxy S10 might pack LPDDR5 RAM, however, he later added that this information does not imply to any confirmation of the same turning out to be true. It must be noted that Samsung officially announced the industry's first 8GB LPDDR5 DRAM module for mobiles back in July last year, which might well make its way to the Galaxy S10 series.

XDA TV's host, Max Weinbach, recently launched a tweetstorm of Galaxy S10 leaks which revealed a lot of new information and also supported a host previous leaks and rumours. Shedding some light on the memory and storage configurations of the Galaxy S10 variants, he claimed that the Galaxy S10 Lite, that will reportedly be launched as the Galaxy S10 E, will pack 4GB of RAM paired with 128GB of inbuilt storage, while the regular Galaxy S10 model will come equipped with 6GB of RAM coupled with 128GB or 256GB of inbuilt storage. The larger Galaxy S10+ will come in multiple variants that will pack 6GB or 8GB of RAM ticking alongside 128GB, 256GB or 512GB of storage.

Additionally, Weinbach also revealed some details about Samsung's 5G-enabled Galaxy S10 model that will feature either 8GB or 12GB of RAM paired with up to 1TB of inbuilt storage, however, models with 256GB and 512GB of inbuilt storage will also be made available. He also added that Samsung's upcoming 5G smartphone will be exclusive to Verizon for a few months following its launch before it becomes available from other carriers. The latest leak, which was obtained from at least four different sources, also reveals some details about the upcoming flagship's imaging hardware.

The tipster mentioned that the Galaxy S10-series smartphones will feature an ultra-wide 16-megapixel sensor with f/1.9 aperture and 123-degrees field of view, but without OIS and autofocus support. It will be accompanied by a main 12-megapixel sensor with 78-degree field of view and a variable aperture whose value can range from f/1.5 to f/2.4, but just like the ultra-wide lens, it will miss out on autofocus and OIS. Lastly, the Galaxy S10+ will exclusively come equipped with a 13-megapixel telephoto lens (F2.4 and 45-degree field of view) that will boast support for OIS and auto focus mechanism.

Talking about the camera features, the new leak points to a Bright Night mode and a portrait lighting effect, which is mentioned in the code as a ‘Stage Lighting'. We've already heard about Bright Night mode, which is rumoured to be Samsung's take on the ‘Night Sight' feature for enhancing low-light photography on Google's Pixel smartphones. Additionally, the location of the LED flash and the heart rate sensor will also be changed from their stacked appearance on the previous generation Samsung flagships, as the Galaxy S10's LED flash will be located on the left side while the heart rate sensor has reportedly been pushed to the right side.

Talking about the Galaxy S10's hardware, Weinbach tweeted that the Galaxy S10 will have 5 cut outs and its speaker grill design will be similar to the one on the Galaxy Note 9. Moreover, the power button on the Galaxy S10+ is reportedly located much higher above the dedicated Bixby button, while the placement of these two buttons on the smaller Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 E will be similar to that on the Galaxy S9. Additionally, the Galaxy S10 series will come packaged with a new pair of AKG-branded earbuds in the retail box that will flaunt a different color and will bear a redesigned logo. Also, the Galaxy S10 will boot One UI, however, it will have a navigation bar as default rather than gesture-based navigation. Finally, Weinback also corroborated previous leaks about the presence of ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors on the higher end variants of the Samsung Galaxy S10 lineup.

Some details about Samsung's upcoming foldable smartphone, which was reportedly showcased at CES 2019 earlier this month, have also surfaced online. The leak claims that Samsung's foldable offering will come equipped with a whopping 12GB of RAM and 512GB or 1TB of inbuilt storage. It should also be noted that the South Korean giant showed off a 5G phone prototype at CES 2019 that will reportedly be launched in the first half of 2019. The new Galaxy S10 leaks are quite extensive in nature, however, the sources have made a point to caution the excited smartphone aficionados that the information must be taken with the proverbial pinch of salt.
