Vivo S1 Debuts in India, Price Starts at Rs. 17,999: Event Highlights

Vivo S1 comes with a 32-megapixel selfie camera

Vivo S1 India launch began with the company's Nipun Marya on stage. He started by talking about the company's first five years in India. Marya then moved to the launch of the day - Vivo S series. He said that Vivo S series is a perfect amalgamation of style and substance. The new Vivo S1 is a part of the company's new S series. Marya also revealed that actor Sara Ali Khan will be the brand ambassador for the Vivo S series in the country. 

Marya then called Ankit Malhotra, Product Manager, Vivo India, on the stage to detail the new Vivo S1. Malhotra announced that the Vivo S1 will be offered in two colour options - Skyline Blue and Diamond Black. The phone features a 6.38-inch screen with 1080x2340 pixels resolution and Super AMOLED panel. The display sports a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor on board as well.

Malhotra then talked about the camera features of the Vivo S1. He announced that S1 comes with a 32-megapixel front shooter on the phone. The phone also packs multiple selfie modes, such as AI Face Beauty, Selfie Frontlight, AR Stickers, AI Filter, and more. There is a triple camera setup on the back with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX499 primary sensor with f/1.78 lens, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle f/2.2 lens, and a 2-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 lens.

According to Vivo, the Vivo S1 is powered by octa-core MediaTek's Helio P65 SoC. Helio P65 SoC is based on 12nm manufacturing process. The phone also packs up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage.  Vivo S1 also includes a massive 4,500mAh battery that supports the company's 18W dual-engine fast charging technology. Additionally, the phone supports reverse charging. So, you can charge other devices using the Vivo S1.

Malhotra stated that the Vivo S1 runs on Android 9 Pie with Funtouch OS 9 on top. Vivo S1 also features a smart button, which triggers Google Assistant on the single tap and double tap will open Jovi image recogniser. Vivo S1 has its own customised voice commands, which can be used to enable or disable features.

Vivo SVP Jerome Chen then came to the stage to announce the price of the smartphone. The phone will be offered in three storage variants - 4GB + 128GB, 6GB + 64GB, 6GB + 128GB. The 4GB + 128GB variant will retail at Rs. 17,990, 6GB + 64GB variant at Rs. 18,990, and 6GB + 128GB at Rs. 19,990. The 4GB RAM variant goes on sale tomorrow.

Vivo has also announced a number of sale offers for the phone like benefits worth Rs. 10,000 via Reliance Jio, 7.5 percent cashback on HMD Bank credit/ debit card EMI transactions, and 10 percent extra exchange discount via Instacash.
