ZTE to showcase 5.7-inch Grand Memo and Firefox OS smartphone at MWC 2013

Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013 is just round the corner and most handset companies are looking to put their best foot forward. The Chinese smartphone maker ZTE is no different in this regards.

The company has issued invites to the event and has mentioned two twitter hashtags to follow - #ZTEGrandMemo and #ZTEMozilla. This is clear indication that these smartphones we will get a dekho at this device MWC. There are also speculations being made that this smartphone may be called the ZTE Mozilla.

There were reports earlier as well that suggested ZTE may launch a Firefox-based smartphone for the European market in the first quarter of 2013. There are no details available on the specifications of this smartphone.

Mozilla gave a sneak peek at two Firefox OS-based Keon and Peak smartphones. Firefox OS is an open-source mobile operating system that will be competing with Apple's iOS, Google's Android, Microsoft's Windows Phone and the recently launched BlackBerry 10.

Apart from the Mozilla smartphone, ZTE will also be showing off Grand Memo smartphone at MWC. ZTE Grand Memo sports a 5.7-inch screen with 720p display, 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, a 13-megapixel rear camera and runs Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8mm thick body and is expected to come with a "one-hand" T9 keyboard. This smartphone was teased at an event in Hong Kong on January 30, 2013.

ZTE recently announced the 8-inch V81 tablet. This tablet has a resolution of 1024x768 pixels and is powered by 1.4GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean). V81 tablet has 2-megapixel rear snapper and 0.3-megapixel on front. It comes with a 3700mAh battery. The company has not shared the pricing and availability of V81 tablet.
