One of Nokia's strategies for generating publicity is its line of reimagined classic models, which remind us of the days when candybar phones came in all shapes and sizes, and you were the coolest of all your friends if your phone had Snake II. With dozens of iconic models in its archives, Nokia has made some interesting choices, starting with of course the Nokia 3310 (2017) which was a worldwide sensation, and then the Nokia 8110 4G and Nokia 2720 Flip which weren't quite as exciting.
Nokia 5310 XpressMusic (2020) Summary
The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic (2020) is one of HMD Global's refreshed classic Nokia phones, but is only a basic feature phone by modern standards. It has bright red strips on the sides, similar to its namesake, with volume and playback controls. It also has stereo speakers and can play FM radio without a headset plugged in. The screen is extremely basic and so is the 0.3-megapixel camera. Surprisingly, the software is responsive and has plenty of useful touches. You get only 2G Internet access, not even Wi-Fi. There are a few preloaded games including a new version of the classic Snake. Build quality is just about okay. Despite the nostalgia factor, few people will want a 2G-only feature phone, when basic Android smartphones cost only a little more.
