CeBIT Unfolds Agenda for Indian IT Industry Growth

World's largest business IT and ICT event CeBIT Wednesday unfolded a bold agenda for the growth of the resilient Indian IT industry at the country's flagship IT trade fair Bangalore ITE.biz 2014.

Focusing on new perspectives in IT business and ideas for Digital India, the three-day mega expo has brought Indian and global majors and their technologists on a single platform for the first time to showcase innovations and products.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated the joint event in the presence of dignitaries from India and 35 countries the world over, where 600 brands and 300 exhibitors are participating in various thematic sessions and trade fair at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) on the city's outskirts.

State IT Minister S.R. Patil, software industry representative body Nasscom president R. Chandrashekar, Infosys' co-founder and Karnataka state vision group chairman S. Gopalakrishnan, Deutsche Messe AG board member Andreas Gruchow, Hannover Milano Fairs India Ltd. managing director Mehul Lanvers Shah and about 1,000 delegates were present on the occasion.

"India, a force to reckon with in the IT and ITES industry, is forecast to be the third largest IT market in the Asia-Pacific region by 2016 and become the second largest market for ICT products and services by 2018," Gruchow said on the occasion.

Infosys chief executive Vishal Sikka delivered the keynote speech on "reshaping the world with software" through video-conferencing from the US, where he is based.

Germany-based joint venture firm HMG (Hannover Milano Global) has early this year formed its Indian subsidiary to host every year its premier international IT/ICT trade event CeBIT India in the Asian sub-continent in partnership with the state-run Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) and the Karnataka government.

Industry visionaries and geeks will debate on leading topics spanning social media marketing, connected cars and cloud computing for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) over the next two days.

"As our maiden event in the sub-continent, we want to showcase India's IT and ICT business to the global audience and take the country's IT dream run to the next level by educating it's IT community on innovations and creating newer business opportunities for the industry," Gruchow asserted.

The organisers have also roped in about 60 experts from diverse user industries to speak on modern technology and its impact on their operations in the plenary sessions, which will focus on ERPA (enterprise resource planning) & data analysis, IT infrastructure and data services, enterprise content management, web and mobile solutions, IT hardware and peripherals.
