Samsung recently unveiled three wearables (two smartwatches) running the basic version of the firm's OS, Tizen, at MWC 2014. The Korean smartphone maker now wants app developers to create apps for the smartwatches, and released an SDK for this purpose on Monday.

The firm released its Tizen SDK for Wearable to app developers, and the SDK includes the support for two wearables (Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches) out of the three wearables that were unveiled at MWC in February 2014, with the Gear Fit fitness band staying out of the picture.

"The Tizen SDK for Wearable is a comprehensive set of tools for developing Samsung Gear applications. It consists of the Tizen Wearable IDE, Emulator, tool-chain, sample applications, and documentation," states the Samsung Developers Blog post.

It is worth pointing out that Samsung will be upgrade its original Galaxy Gear smartwatch to run Tizen OS, which means that the apps created for Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo might also run on the original Samsung smartwatch that came alongside the Galaxy Note 3 phablet.

We'll have to wait seen how many apps make it to these Gear smartwatches as most of the developers are said to be more keen towards the Android Wear SDK, which also got released on Wednesday.

It has been noted that Google is teaming up with a number of manufacturers worldwide for Android Wear, namely Samsung, HTC, LG, Asus, Intel, Qualcomm and MediaTek. LG has announced the G Watch smartwatch for a Q2 2014 release, while Motorola will release the Moto 360 sometime in Summer 2014.
