Mashable, a news website and news blog, is likely to be acquired by CNN for $200 million, according to Reuters blogger Felix Salmon. If rumours are to believed, this acquisition will be announced sometime on Tuesday.

Founded by Pete Cashmore in 2005, the website focuses on social media news. However, it also covers entertainment, business, technology, gadgets etc. It has been termed as 'one of the largest websites in the world', and has over 50 million pageviews and is closing in on approximately 840,000 fans on Facebook.
