Amazon on Wednesday refreshed its Kindle Paperwhite e-book reader with an improved display and some new software features. The Kindle Paperwhite will continue to retail at Rs. 10,999 for the Wi-Fi only variant and Rs. 13,999 for the 3G variant. The new models will start shipping on June 30. Interestingly, the previous generation Paperwhite models continue to be listed on Amazon India at the same price at the time of filing this report.

"We love inventing for readers," said Jeff Bezos, Amazon.com Founder and CEO. "The new Kindle Paperwhite obsesses over the details that matter most to readers - we've added our highest-resolution display so the words are crisp and clear on the page, a new font that is crafted exclusively for reading Kindle books, and a new typesetting engine that makes pages beautiful. Together, these details help you read faster and with less eyestrain, so you can lose yourself in the author's world."

The new Kindle Paperwhite comes with 300ppi display seen on the Kindle Voyage and the newly introduced Bookerly font that Amazon claims is a "warm and contemporary" font "designed from the ground up for reading on digital screens."

With the Kindle Paperwhite (2015), Amazon is also claiming improvements like hyphenation to break words "at the right place", improved character placement and spacing between words, enhanced page layout, and a better reading experience when using large fonts.
