  • Amazon Kindle priced at $79 getting audible support
  • Kindle Oasis already supports audible
  • Amazon promises support coming in months

Amazon, the online retail giant, is bringing audible support to its cheapest Kindle. The company, earlier this month, added an all-new waterproof Kindle Oasis Waterproof ebook reader with Amazon's Audible service to stream audio books. The feature is finally coming to the entry-level Kindle. Amazon says that the Audible service will be available on the Kindle via a free over-the-air update in the coming months.

Much like Kindle Oasis, the $79 Kindle has Bluetooth and integrates with the company's Audible service to stream audio books to wireless headphones or speakers. The Amazon listing for the $79 Kindle says, "Now, you can listen to the world's largest library of audiobooks on your Kindle - anytime, anywhere, while travelling, cooking, or when you just want to rest your eyes. Pair with Bluetooth to move seamlessly from reading to listening."

For starters, Amazon has opened the Audible service membership, and interested users can sign up for an Audible free trial and get two free audiobooks on the company.

To recall, Amazon Kindle received its refresh in June last year and was also made available in India. It was launched at Rs. 5,999. With a 6-inch glare-free touchscreen, it packs 4GB of storage. It offers 167ppi pixel density and sports weeks of battery life. Connectivity option supports Wi-Fi and weighs in at 161 grams. It measures 160x115x9.1mm and comes in Black and White colours.

One of the highlights of the Kindle was "export notes" which allowed users to send notes and highlights from a book to email. The audible support was first spotted by Digital Reader.
