Another week; another Chinese smartphone brand. This time it's Coolpad, a name we're already somewhat familiar with. Coolpad has been a major OEM player and its designs have ended up in India under various names over the years. Now, with e-commerce majors providing ready-made distribution and logistics networks, the company has joined the long list of those hoping to grab a portion of the massive potential for smartphone sales in India.Of course we aren't complaining. More players means more competition and lower prices. Flash sales go hand-in-hand with product scarcity, so it's always good to have more options on hand. The company is hitting two strategic price points with its debut products, the Coolpad Dazen 1 and the Coolpad Dazen X7. We have the former with us for review today, and right from the outset it looks as though things are about to get even more interesting in the sub-Rs. 10,000 market.

Coolpad Dazen 1 Summary

The Coolpad Dazen 1, despite its odd name, could become very popular in India. The price is right and the features are excellent. 2GB of RAM is very welcome at this price point, the battery is big enough to last for up to two days of moderate usage, and even the camera impressed us. There’s enough power to last quite a long time. It’s a bit bulkier and heavier than its most obvious competitor, the Xiaomi Redmi 2. Both models trade blows when it comes to features and specifications with the scores balancing out pretty evenly between them. This is the budget phone to buy if you don’t prioritise fashion over functionality.

Dazen Coolpad1 has basic defect

I purchased Dazen Coolpad1 through snap deal during its launching. This Phone has basic defect. At the SIM insertion place it is written SIM 2 at starting and SIM 2 next to it. If you insert your SIM in SIM 2 slot then the SIM details appear in card 1. Similarly when you insert SIM in SIM 1 slot this SIM details appear in card 2. The problem and snap shots sent to Snap Deal, but answer is as usual. You have to go to Service Centre and get written note. If you get written note from Service Centre then submit it to Snap Deal. Then they will recollect the defective phone and will send new phone after technical analysis. Is it not funny? How can a person live without phone until their analysis is over. Who knows what they will further refer to?

What it missed from Redmi2?

Does it have inbuilt call recorder like Redmi2? and no Gorilla glass protection.......so if you drop it then well rest depends upon your luck! Company does not supply headphone with the set - that is a virtual cheating with the middle class Indian families.
