Bharti ties up with J&K Bank for Airtel money

Bharti Airtel has joined hands with Jammu & Kashmir Bank to offer 'Airtel money' service through the bank's 800 centres across the state.

Through Airtel money, the users can load cash on their mobile devices and spend it to pay utility bills, recharge mobile phones, shop at merchant outlets and transact online, a spokesman of the mobile company said.

"Today, we are seeing Airtel money play a pivotal role in bringing unbanked millions of Indians into the banking fold, and are now honoured to work with J&K Bank to proliferate the power of this service into deeper pockets of Jammu and Kashmir," Sriraman Jagannathan, CEO of M Commerce of Bharti Airtel a said.

Airtel M Commerce Services (AMSL) is a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel.

As part of this association, Airtel will leverage the reach of Jammu and Kashmir Banks vast network of Khidmat Centres towards creating an alternative distribution channel for Airtel money, thus enabling wider access for customers, he added.

J&K Bank has taken the Khidmat Centres e-governance project to make information and knowledge reach all corners of the state as well as to ensure growth for both urban and rural sections of the society, O P Sharma, Executive President of the Bank, said.

"Our tie-up with Bharti Airtel to offer Airtel money at our Khidmat outlets is in line with this very vision and will play a crucial role in extending banking capabilities to even those without a bank account, Sharma said.
