Those who have 4K TVs know the significance of High Dynamic Range (HDR) content. LG knows it too. Which is why the South Korean technology company has partnered with Amazon to get the e-commerce service's video app to beam high picture quality directly to some of its webOS smart TV models.

As part of the deal, the EF9500 Flat Oled 4K TV series, which offers full HDR capability, will be able to make the most out of the Amazon Video's streaming. Select EG9600 and EG9200 TVs will also be able to utilise the feature, though they are required to first download and install a firmware update.

The company announced that Amazon Original Series Transparent and Mozart in the Jungle as well as the pilot episode of the upcoming comedy series Red Oaks are available for the aforementioned TV models.

"LG is committed to delivering the best viewing experience, and it doesn't get any better than HDR content on an Oled 4K display," said Tim Alessi, head of new product development, LG Electronics USA. "Amazon has played an invaluable role in helping LG bring consumers the best way to enjoy streaming content and an incredible HDR experience," he added.

Without HDR content, you're unlikely to experience the best of your 4K Oled TVs. Though the reality is that it might take years for our cable networks and content producers to make HDR content readily available to users. LG is trying to speed up the process. The company has partnered with several broadcasters and content providers to demo their content on 4K Oled TVs. For instance, its deal with European Broadcasting Union provides it the rights to stream BBC HDR content.

This is the second piece of good news for webOS TV users this month. Earlier this week, LG announced ahead of IFA 2015 that it will be rolling out webOS 2.0 update to the previous generation (2014) television sets. The Value Pack Upgrade, which is free, also brought along more intuitive layout, shortcuts, and reduced the boot-up time.

"LG is dedicated to providing the best user experience for the life of our smart TVs," said Lee In-kyu, senior vice president and head of the TV and Monitor Division at LG's Home Entertainment Company. "A free upgrade of this scale is unprecedented in the smart TV industry and we're proud to be setting a new standard for smart TV ownership."

At the sidelines of the ongoing IFA 2015, LG also announced SmartThinQ Sensor, which can be attached to many traditional home appliances to make them smart. The circular shaped SmartThinQ Sensor can be attached to washing machines or refrigerators, for instance, to take their temperature and other readings and monitor it via an app. Find it cool? The company also recently launched a foldable keyboard called Rolly at IFA 2015, a keyboard that had gained much attention globally when unveiled last week.
