Roku on Monday announced future 4K support for Roku TV, apart from Haier Roku TV models in partnership with Haier, and Insignia Roku TV models in partnership with Insignia, at CES 2015 in Las Vegas.

The company announced that its future Roku TV models will support 4K Ultra HD streaming, including Netflix's 4K content.

"As one of the first streaming services to offer 4K Ultra HD content to our customers, it's important for Netflix to work closely with partners like Roku to give consumers more streaming options," said Neil Hunt, Chief Product Officer of Netflix. "We look forward to bringing Netflix 4K Ultra HD content to Roku customers."

Roku TV is a new generation of smart TVs built by TV manufacturers using the Roku TV reference design and the Roku operating system (Roku OS). The company says that it has prepared a reference Roku TV design for 4K smart TVs for license to TV OEM partners like TCL - which will be the first 4K hardware partner for company.

While the company didn't specify as to when consumers can expect the 4K Roku TVs from TCL, it said that the Roku TV models manufactured by Insignia will be available beginning this spring at Best Buy stores and at BestBuy.com exclusively, whereas the Haier Roku TV models will be available for consumers to purchase in Q3 2015.

The 40-inch to 65-inch models will come with full-HD resolution and a 'Sound Chamber' that produces enhanced sound quality, dampening, mid-range response, bass, as well as overall richer sound texture, notes the company.

"Roku TV has set a new standard for smart TVs and has been highly praised by consumers and industry experts for its simplicity, personalization and huge selection of streaming content," said Chas Smith, General Manager of OEM for Roku. "The new Haier Roku TV models will be great for consumers looking to get one of the best smart TVs around."
