Launched first at CES 2015 in January, Sennheiser has gone ahead and pulled the wraps off its new sports range of headphones in India. The MX 686 Sports and CX 686 Sports are priced at Rs. 4,990 each, whereas the PMX 686 Sports and OCX 686 Sports will set you back by Rs. 7,990. All the headphones are optimised for Android smartphones, but if you are an iPhone user, you should know PMX 686 and OCX 686 headphones are also available in 'i' variants at the same price.

The PMX 686 Sports and OCX 686 Sports have a neckband design with ear hooks whereas the MX 686 Sports and CX 686 Sports feature a standard straight fit. All the four headphones include an in-line mic and remote. The OCX 686 Sports and the CX 686 Sports offer an in-ear fit which enters the ear canals for better isolation. The other two have a slide-to-fit adapter. Sennheiser claims that the oval cable is tangle-free and doesn't have cable noise either.

Most importantly, all the headphones have passed the IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance. Sennheiser bundles SteriTouch anti-bacterial ear adapters and sleeve with the headphones. Inside the boxes, a protective, cushioned carrying pouch made of breathable fabric is also supplied.

All the headphones use full-range drivers which operate in a frequency range of 18Hz to 20000Hz, and have Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of less than 0.5 percent. If the impedance rating of all the headphones is anything to go by (less than 32 ohms) then it is evident that most portable players should be able to drive it easily.

Commenting on the launch Mr. Kapil Gulati, Director, Consumer Segment, Sennheiser, said "Our new Sports headphones have been built on Sennheiser's passion for sound and insight into the impact and challenges of extreme movement on audio, comfort and fit - all of which guided the design and selection of materials."
