Sony on Wednesday launched the MDR-XB950BT Bluetooth and NFC Wireless 'Extra Bass' headphones in India, priced at Rs. 12,990. The Japanese electronics giant says the new headphones have an "optimum fit" for a comfortable listening experience.

The Sony MDR-XB950BT headphones sport 40mm dynamic drivers, and deliver a frequency response of up to 28KHz. They also feature an Electro Bass Booster that gives them the 'Extra Bass' moniker. With a charge of 4 hours, the headphones can play music for up to 20 hours, as per the company's claims.

The NFC support allows users to create a "one-touch connection" with smartphones and other NFC-enabled media consumption devices. The Sony MDR-XB950BT headphones also feature a built-in microphone for handsfree calls.

Sony says users can get a premium leather carrying case exclusively with the MDR-XB950BT headphones for a limited time.

Sony India in August had launched two new pairs of headphones - the MDR-XB250, MDR-XB450 - and one new pair of earphones - the MDR-AS200. They are priced at Rs. 2,190, Rs. 1,490 and Rs. 790 respectively. Sony had says the MDR-XB250 and MDR-XB450 are targeted at bass lovers, and the MDR-AS200 at sports enthusiasts.

The Sony MDR-XB450 and MDR-XB250 are thought to be nearly identical, except for the metal body on the former. The Sony MDR-AS200 earphones, built for extreme sporting activities, have an adjustable ear loops and the same flat cord.
