  • The IconX Bluetooth earbuds also expected.
  • Diplo will perform at the event.

Samsung is sending out invites for an event on June 2 in New York. While it isn't clear what the company looks to announce, we expect the Gear Fit 2 and IconX earbuds to be unveiled.

The event will begin at 5pm EDT (2.30am IST) where the press is invited to "experience how Samsung's devices work together to create a Galaxy of Possibility." The Gear Fit 2 and the Icon X earbuds were briefly spotted on the company's S Health website earlier in May, fuelling an imminent release. As it is not as Unpacked event, the launch of any smartphones is unlikely - though some reports speculate the Galaxy Note 6 launch.

Performances at tech events have become a norm now, and this one is no exception. Sasmung has confirmed a performance by Diplo, and 'another surprise guest'. The Gear Fit 2 is expected to be the successor of the Gear Fit that was launched in 2014.

The Gear Fit 2 has been subjected to various leaks recently, and it is expected to sport a curved Amoled display with 216x432 pixels resolution, and dual-core camera paired with 512MB of RAM. It will be surrounded with rubber bands, and be available in varied colour options. It is said to support GPS, and be dust and waterproof (IP68 rating) as well.

As mentioned earlier, Samsung is also expected to launch the touch-based Bluetooth earbuds Gear IconX at the event. These earphones may offer 4GB of internal memory effectively replacing the music player, and will also be dust and waterproof. As with all leaks, all the information should be taken with a pinch of salt till the official unveil.
