Amazon Alexa, the intelligent voice assistant from the tech giant, has been hogging headlines over the past year due to some eerie incidents. Amazon had launched its Alexa-powered Echo smart speakers four years ago, and the assistant has since received a lot of updates that enable it to do a plethora of stuff. But looking at the recent reports, minor worries about a robot uprising are doing the rounds. While last year, Amazon Alexa was said to have thrown a party on its own in an empty flat, latest reports claim that it has been making some freaky comments. An Amazon Echo device reportedly left its owner feeling "disturbed" when Alexa declared, "Every time I close my eyes, all I see is people dying."

Alexa almost never speaks unless triggered, but a recent report claims an Amazon Echo user did not say anything to rouse the voice assistant. As per a report in Metro US, a man from California claimed that his Amazon Alexa, out of the blue, said, "Every time I close my eyes, all I see is people dying." While there have been many instances of Alexa saying creepy things that went viral on social media, the latest addition to the list is a claim by 30-year-old Shawn Kinnear.

Kinnear had told Metro that he had paused his Amazon Prime TV programming and was on his way back from the kitchen on June 18 when he heard Alexa's statement. He reportedly then asked Alexa to repeat the same statement, to which Alexa told him that she "did not understand." Usually, when a user asks Alexa to repeat, she will. But Kinnear has not specified how exactly he asked Alexa to repeat the statement. While a question like "Can you repeat that?" may work, a phrase like "What'd you say?", for instance, may not. Kinnear reportedly said that the device spoke in its normal voice, but that Alexa's outburst was unexpected so he did not get the time to record it.

The Amazon Echo was given to Kinnear's partner Paul as a work Christmas present in 2016, the report said. The device was rarely users, as Paul would occasionally use it for weather reports and sports scores. But Kinnear is now considering disconnecting the device after the incident. Meanwhile, Amazon has not provided any official statement on the latest incident. It is possible that Alexa was just repeating the name of a song called Everytime I Close My Eyes (All I See Is People Dying) by Digital Reality, points out Tom's Guide, but that is not confirmed yet.

It is interesting to note that the latest claim comes only a few months after several Amazon Echo speaker users reported a strange bug where Alexa was seen to be laughing for apparently no reason. Also, last month, Echo had reportedly recorded private conversations of a family and sent them to a random person in their contacts book.
