  • Pages, KeyNote, and Numbers apps are now free
  • Users who used old Apple hardware had to pay for them
  • These apps are now free on iOS and macOS as well

In a new development, Apple is making its GarageBand, iMovie, and iWork apps free for all users. While most users with iOS and macOS devices were already using them for free, some legacy handset users were still forced to pay a premium fee for using these apps. However, moving forward, all users will be able to use it for free.

Back in 2013, Apple made the apps free for all new iPhone, iPad and Mac users, but users with old hardware had to still pay to use these apps. According to 9to5Mac, users had to pay $4.99 (roughly Rs. 300) for the GarageBand and iMovie app on the App Store. iWork apps - Pages, Keynote, and Numbers for iOS - each carried a $9.99 (roughly Rs. 600) price tag. For Mac, the GarageBand app was sold for $4.99 (roughly Rs. 300), the iMovie app was listed at $14.99 (roughly Rs. 900) and the Pages, Keynote, and Numbers app cost the most at $19.99 (roughly Rs. 1,200) for each on the Mac App Store.

Now, Apple has updated all of these apps on the Mac App Store and App Store, and they are now all available for free. For all users who bought Apple hardware post 2013, you're likely going to see no change as such, but old hardware users will now see these apps as free on respective stores.
