Google begun rolling out an update for its Chrome browser for Android users, taking it to version 40. The updated Chrome for Android app features some new functions related to the browser's bookmarks, offline mode, zoom functionality and more.

One of the main and distinctive features visible is the larger address bar on top that now includes the overflow button. The feature is however only available if the user is operating on Android 5.0 Lollipop and has several tabs merged. A new bookmarks manager is also included, similar to the new bookmarks manager on Chrome for desktop. The update also includes a new zooming feature that makes the fixed headers on a website scrollable when zoomed in.

Chrome 40 users on Android can also perform more tasks while staying offline. Google as a part of the Chrome 40 beta first announced the feature last month. Google explained that the new API let developers "make sites work offline by intercepting network requests to deliver programmatic or cached responses."

A new view/copy feature can also be seen in the updated Chrome version, as per Android Police, which also lets users set site-specific location permissions.

For Android tablet users, the Chrome 40 will now let users easily close all tabs at once. This option will be prompted soon after the user closes one of the Chrome tabs. It is needless to say that the Chrome 40 updates mentioned above will take time to reach each device depending on the region. However, the Google-signed apk file is available for download from Android Police website for impatient users to sideload.

Google on Wednesday announced that starting February it will retire two extension features from the Chrome app platform namely Chrome to Mobile extension, and the Print to my Phone feature in the Google Cloud Print extension, replacing them with Chrome tab sync. Google Chrome 40 also reached iOS device this week bringing Material Design and other new features.
