Google Fit, a health-tracking app launched by Google in October, has now been updated with new features and some bug fixes.

The updated Google Fit app now includes 100 new activities, which the user can add manually to track their health. A number of winter sports such as skiing, biathlon, skating have been added along with volleyball, boxing, cricket, dancing, kite surfing and more. Also, the app comes with an improved algorithm to measure the steps taken by a user.

As a part of the update, Google Fit now comes with a support for Android Wear. However, the firm is still stating that this is currently an experimental step. The app should also be able to count steps taken by the user even when not connected with the handset. "New, experimental step detection for walking when the watch is disconnected from the phone," adds the app listing on Google Play. The Android Wear smartwatch will notably remember the number of steps taken by the user and will synchronise the information with the handset once it is connected again.

The updated Google Fit app measures 15MB, and supports devices running Android 4.0 and higher. It is available to download from Google Play.

Notably, the Google Fit app uses the sensors onboard the Android device to track the number of steps walked by the user, weight history, calories burned and other health-related data.

The Mountain View giant, upon the launch of the Google Fit app, had also announced partnerships with companies such as Nike, Adidas, Runkeeper, HTC, Asus, LG and Motorola for the Google Fit platform. The search engine giant unveiled the Google Fit platform at the I/O event earlier this year. Notably, Apple's rival platform HealthKit was announced as one of the key features during the company's WWDC event in June along with iOS 8.
