Google on Thursday announced an update to its News & Weather app for Android devices, with new Material Design dark theme, new options in weather graphs and more.

The company said that the latest update (version 2.2) to Google News & Weather app includes "new weather graphs, searchable news, a dark colour theme, and curated stories from your favourite publishers."

Notably, the update hasn't been rolled out to Google Play in India, as it still notes version 2.0 of the app updated on Wednesday. In order to update the News & Weather app to version 2.2, users could either wait or download the Google-signed apk from Android Police, which also notes that material animations include hamburger flip, overflow waves, and drop-down refresh spinner, along with "change to standard [Google+] background image account switcher UI."

The 'What's New' section of the updated Google News & Weather app (vesion 2.0) in India, despite listing an update on Wednesday, includes the same features Google had first updated in August with the revamped v2.0 app.

Features like Google sign-in for personalised news, tablet support, navigate sections via simple swipes or from Menu, weather and local news for multiple places, resizable home screen widget, and the 'Change editions' option from tapping on three dots on the top right corner in the app, were part of the Google News & Weather app (version 2.0) update in August.
